Have you ever found yourself standing in line to buy gifts on Christmas Eve? Ever thought of the PERFECT gift too late for it to be shipped in time? Have you resorted to gift cards for the “hard to buy for” person on your list? I have done ALL of those things, but I refuse to be that person this year.
There is really nothing more fun or meaningful than giving a gift that someone loves, especially during the Christmas season. Gift giving can get really stressful when you just don’t know what to get a person, so I’m doing a series of gift ideas posts over the next few weeks to help me you find the perfect gift for the wonderful people on your list. Starting with 33 Gift Ideas for the Home Decor Enthusiast!
33 Gift Ideas for the Home Decor Enthusiast
It may seem like a daunting task to purchase items for someone else’s home. Here’s a little trick. Pay attention to what’s trending for home decor right now. You can find items that are in style without being too trendy, and more than likely, any home decor enthusiast (or anyone who cares what their home looks like) will be more than happy to try the trend out in their home. I’ve broken this gift guide down into trending categories to help you see what I mean.
Faux Fur
Faux fur is definitely having a moment. It’s been all over the runway, which almost always means the trend finds it’s way to home decor. Faux fur is not new to home decor of course, and it’s a great way to add warmth and texture to a space.
- Leopard Print Pillow
- Snow Leopard Pillow
- Faux Fur Throw
- Faux Fur Pillow (comes in other colors)
Trays
Who knew that trays could be so important for decorating your home? They are a very practical item for carrying things, obviously, but I don’t know a designer/blogger who hasn’t talked about using trays to bring interest or to ground a grouping. They really do make a difference in your decor. I’ve included a range of styles, but the most popular right now seem to be the rustic, farmhouse styles.
Throws
You can never have too many throws. You need at least one per family member for each room, right? It never fails that I will be in the upstairs of our house and wish that I had the throw two flights of stairs down. I definitely need to add to our collection for the cold winter that’s coming, and these caught my eye. Tassels and pom poms seem to be the thing for throws right now, but a striped turkish towel is really popular too! Adding a monogram makes it even more personal.
Metallics
Every room needs something shiny. It keeps the space from feeling flat. The big thing lately has been to mix metal finishes and I really love the effect. I’ve included some items here that are in the trending finishes: gold and copper.
- Wire Basket
- Pineapple
- Geode Coaster
- Tray
- Pencil Cup (could double as a vase!)
- OK
- Giraffe (animals aren’t just for nurseries, add some whimsy to your space!)
- Tape Measure (how fun as a stocking stuffer?)
Fixer Upper Style
Who doesn’t love Chip and Jo Jo? Even if modern farmhouse isn’t your style, you can’t help but be drawn to their fun dynamic. If you are shopping for a Fixer Upper fan, here are some ideas that reflect Joanna’s style. Bonus tip: use the basket as a “gift basket”, fill it with the other items, and tie a bow on it!
Art
I love art that has meaning behind it, and what could be more meaningful than a piece that was a gift from someone special? Personal taste plays a big role in art, but here are a few suggestions to get you started. An illustration of books for the book lover, a hand printed pattern for the blue and white lover, or a fun hand lettered piece. Here are some of my favorites from my go-to source for art lately, Etsy.
Books
Design books are not only beautiful pieces that you can place on a coffee table or bedside table, they are also chock full of design tips and ideas. The following books have taught me so much about decorating, and I refer back to them over and over again.
I hope that this guide gives you some ideas for someone on your list this year, or maybe even a “self gift”. There are certainly some things on here that I’m hoping my husband takes note of…
