Good morning! I had big plans for a DIY post for today, and it’s just not going to to happen. I love DIY projects and posts, but the reality of doing them with 2 small children at home full time (as well as all the other responsibilities I have) is that I frequently work on them in 10-15 minute increments. Not exactly a recipe for a speedy project. Especially when it involves errands. So…as soon as I can get to Lowes for the wood for the last piece of a project I’m working on, I’ll share all the details with you! (Hint: It’s something in this room…)

I had big plans to share great progress on our Master Bedroom Update, but it’s not going to happen. I need some large (hear pricey) items for this update, which means it’s just going to take some time. I’m working within a strict budget and I’ve spent my allotted money for the month already, so there won’t be as much going on in that arena as I’d like. I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of the items I ordered, hopefully they will work out the way I’d like them to.
Over the weekend I went to my favorite local decorating shop (Nell Hills for the locals) to pick up some fabric swatches. I plan on making some pillows and needed to see the fabric in the room to make sure it will match the rug (one of the items I’m waiting for!) Here’s what I found:
I also had big plans to have a new book reviewed for the What I’m Reading series. But I just haven’t found a book lately that I felt deserved to be shared. I have been reading, but nothing has really inspired me yet. I’m not really excited about writing reviews about books that I didn’t like, so I’m sure you won’t be excited about reading them. I was also a little crazy to think I could make that a weekly series at this point. I have a couple books I’m waiting for from the library that I’m really excited to read, hopefully at least one of those will be share worthy. If you haven’t seen the books that I’ve already reviewed, you can find them on the What I’m Reading page.
So, what’s a girl to do when she has no money to spend, no time for errands for DIY, and no good books to read? Why clean of course! The spring cleaning bug is starting to bite, and I have some ideas for how I can create some better organization for my home this spring. My first idea involves making over a closet, my second involves purging and organizing toys, and I also have a crazy idea to move my daughters into the same bedroom to create some workspace for myself. They are 3 1/2 and 19 months, and I can’t count on either of them to sleep through the night, so I’m concerned about one waking the other. I’m also concerned about nap time. The younger one still naps 2+ hours, while the older one has play time in her room for an hour. I don’t know where the oldest will go during nap time if baby is sleeping. If any of you have suggestions, let me know.
But back to organizing. I have been following IHeartOrganizing.com for almost a year now. Jen has amazing organizing tips and tricks, and she does it beautifully. You should definitely check out her site for hundreds of ideas for every room in your house. Last summer she did a 4 Week Organizing challenge and created a gorgeous free printable to help you get organized too. I plan to use it myself over the next couple of weeks on the rooms that are making me crazy right now. You can find it here. I’ll keep you updated on my progress too!
