Hello! How has your week been? I want to start checking in with you more frequently, and I thought a Week in Review post would be a fun way to let you know what I’ve been up to, what has stood out about my week, and hopefully hear back about yours.
One of the things that had to get done this week was a return to J Crew. I’m working on a post for Monday about my 10 Item Summer Wardrobe, and I needed to go exchange the size on an item. Normally I avoid going into clothing stores like the plague. My kids turn into little crazy people and make me crazy in the process. They will be happy as clams in the stroller until we walk through the door and it’s chaos until we walk back out. Needless to say, most of my shopping these days is done online. I LOVE companies that do free shipping both ways (looking at you Nordstrom!), but I saw something at J Crew I just had to have and went ahead and paid for the shipping. When the size wasn’t right, I decided it would be worth it to head into the store to make the exchange. It was so not worth the $5 shipping charge for the huge amount of hassle…until I saw this………….

Oh my goodness, this dress. I don’t think that this photo does this dress justice. Maybe if you zoom in on the pattern. The colors are so fun (love that shade of blue!) and it just screams summer to me. If dresses aren’t your thing, they also have an amazing skirt made from the same fabric. And you know what else? It’s even on sale, PLUS J Crew has an additional 40% off with the code SUMMER. Maybe Monday’s post will be about an 11 item wardrobe…
Note: some of the links in this post are affiliate links, which means that I earn a small commission when you purchase an item using one of my links. This does not affect the price that you pay! Thanks for supporting the running of this blog!
It just so happens that I picked up some new OPI nail polish that will match the dress. It’s called “Elephantastic Pink” and it is just the perfect summer pink. I went in to get a darker shade of pink, but they didn’t have what I was looking for. I think I need to try again in the fall. I really wish OPI didn’t stop producing their colors so quickly, it takes me forever to use a bottle and then I can’t find it again. I love OPI nail polish though, and right now Beauty Brands (where I purchased mine) has an offer to buy 2 bottles and receive a free bottle of topcoat. Which I needed, so that worked out well!
This week I found a new (to me) home decor blogger that I just love! Myquillyn writes at www.thenester.com and I really enjoy her style. Another great thing about her and her blog: she has been a renter for a large portion of her home decorating life. So many home decor blogs are dedicated to DIY projects that renters just aren’t able to do, often you aren’t even allowed to repaint when you’re renting. Not only does she get that, but she shoes you how to make decorating personal in a temporary space. I’m also in the middle of reading her book, The Nesting Place: It Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Be Beautiful. I love her heart behind decorating and the stories she shares. She also has an amazing Home Decor Shopping Guide that she uses to walk you through where she finds all the decor in her home (and it’s affordable, I promise!). You do have to subscribe to her blog to receive the guide, but I think her blog is really beautiful and inspiring.
As for the upcoming weekend, I plan on blogging, spending time with my family on our patio, at the pool, eating more ice cream, and hopefully squeezing in a date with my husband. And maybe hit up the local farmer’s market (if it’s not too hot). #wishfulthinking
What about you? What stood out about your week? Any fun plans for the weekend? I’d love to hear from you!
