What have you been up to this week? I’ve been decorating! Not only have I been working on my own home, but I got the opportunity to help out a few friends as well. I’d really love to start doing some more consulting/decorating for other people, it’s so fun! On Thursday a friend asked for some input on a big blank wall in her living room, and on Tuesday and Wednesday I helped another friend put together a gallery wall in her dining room. I’ll be sharing more about that in a future post, but today I’ve got some cute office supplies, how I’m keeping my kids entertained in the car, and my favorite top for summer days that I’m stuck inside with the air-conditioning.
Cute Office Supplies
I shared another design book with you this week, Domino, but not every design book I read makes it on to the blog. Originally I thought I was going to write a review for every book that I read, but I decided that it wasn’t much fun to write a review about something I didn’t love, and you probably wouldn’t get that much out of reading it. So one of the design books that I didn’t love still had some helpful resources in it. She shared a ton of websites to buy really stylish office supplies. I’m a sucker for office supplies, and if they are attractive all the better. Now I really need to find a way to justify replacing all the standard ones that I own, because why have a plain black stapler when it could be gold?! And why use a plain binder when it could look like marble? The author shared quite a few websites, but my favorite for both cute factor and affordability is www.russellandhazel.com.
Audio Books
Ok, so I know that I am not the only mother out there who is trying to figure out how to keep her kids occupied in the car. It’s a daily battle for us, not just on long car trips. Our SUV has a TV in it, and at first I LOVED it. The kids sat quietly in the back and my husband and I could carry on a conversation. So great. Until…the kids want to watch the TV every single time we get in the car. Everyone has their own personal rules about screen time, but since I do let my kids watch TV at home some, I didn’t want to increase their screen time more by having the TV on every time we went somewhere. So I’ve been having them listen to audio books this week! I remember loving them as a kid, but I thought my kids would be too young for it (2 and almost 4). They love it! We have been listening to Winnie the Pooh (the actual book) and we have several others that we are waiting on from the library, including The Chronicles of Narnia and Stuart Little. I love that the girls are watching less TV and bonus, they are being exposed to classic children’s literature. Our library has a great selection, but you can also find great titles on Audible.com and Amazon.
My Favorite Striped Tee
This is the first summer in my life that I have been a long sleeve and shorts girl. It never really made sense to me how people weren’t hot wearing that combo, but now I love it! I am pretty cold natured, so on really hot days (like all this week!) that we are inside most of the time, I get cold wearing short sleeves. This striped tee (affiliate link) has been my go to for pairing with shorts this summer. It is a tunic, but easily half tucks into my shorts, and I know I’m going to be wearing it all fall/winter with leggings. I have been really impressed with the quality for the price that I paid ($13 plus free shipping!).
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend, we have plans to take the girls to the fair and
