I love these little week in review posts, they really help me to “process” and absorb the week and it’s happenings. I don’t know how you feel, but the older I get the faster time seems to pass. It’s so easy for a week to go by and if feels like I’ve done nothing. But when I make myself think about it, I realize that a lot goes on around here! It’s not always glamorous (or what I want to be doing), but it’s real life and I get to share it with people I love.
One of my favorite things we did this past week was check out a new splash park here in Kansas City. If you’re local, check out Dagg Park, it’s really fun on hot days. The first time we went during a slow time of day (11am) and had the place mostly to ourselves, which was great. The second time we went around (10) and it was packed! I don’t think that a Tuesday versus a Wednesday would make that much of a difference, but maybe so. My older daughter didn’t love it as much when it was crowded, but we will definitely go again soon. It’s a little easier for me to do on my own with two little ones, as compared to the pool.

I”ve been wanting to try a Beauty Blender for a while now, and got mine in the mail recently. It’s a pink sponge in the shape of an egg that you can use to apply primer, foundation, BB or CC cream, basically anything liquid (or powder) for your face. It’s supposed to create a more flawless finish, and I also liked the idea of the makeup not being all over my hands. I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for over a year now (see an “unboxing“), and they often have special little boxes that subscribers can purchase outside of their monthly box. Right now they have a box called the Radiant Finish Kit that includes the Beauty Blender and 4 other sample size products for $26. The Beauty Blender typically retails for $20, so it was a fun way to get the blender and try some other products for a great price (and I love all the samples I got too!). I’ve been really happy with the smooth, even application. And it was really nice not to have makeup all over my hands. I just pump out a little onto the blender and then apply it to my face. If I need more I just add more, I think I will waste a little less makeup this way. Tip: If you decide to try the blender out, make sure you get it wet first, then squeeze the water out and dry it just so it’s not drippy. If you don’t the sponge will soak up all your makeup!
I listed my brand new rug for sale this week. Why? Because I made the classic rug buying mistake, buying a rug that was too small for the space. In trying to save some money, I ended up costing myself the hassle of trying to sell it (probably for less than I paid) and then buying a bigger size. Nesting With Grace just wrote a post on this topic, with lots of helpful photos showing what not to do and what to do when deciding on a rug size. And if you want to buy my rug, let me know. 😉
Eek! Way too small!
This weekend, we have plans to attend a company wide picnic for my husband’s work and do a little dog sitting, which my girls will love. I hope you enjoy your weekend!
