How has your week been? Mine has been full and fast, especially coming off of the holiday on Monday. I’ve got a lot to share in this Week in Review, including my latest painting project, a new home decor resource, and my social media confession.
On Tuesday, the girls and I drove to my sister’s house where a lot of my family had gathered to help her work on her house. I wrote briefly about her home in the post Photoshop Files: Picking a Paint Color. My sister and her husband bought a fixer upper home a year ago, and over the last week my brother has been tearing down all the old plaster and putting up sheetrock in the master bedroom, bathroom and mudroom, as well as reconfiguring the layout of all 3 rooms. It is a big job, but many hands make light work (he may not agree on the light part) and we’ve all been contributing in our own way.
The construction was not my strong suit, but back in January my sister and I starting painting her kitchen cabinets and I’ve been working on helping her get them finished while I’ve been here. Her kitchen is massive, in a really good way, but that meant a ton of cabinets to paint. Sanding is by far my least favorite step, but it’s worth the end result. She chose a medium gray called “Galveston” by Benjamin Moore and it pairs so nicely with her oil rubbed bronze hardware. Due to the high number of cabinets and the many steps involved in painting them, I wasn’t able to help complete the project, but we made really good headway.
Also this week, I spent some time shopping for home decor on Groupon. Wait, what? You didn’t know you could buy home decor from Groupon? Me either until a few days ago. I was of course already familiar with Groupon, but I think of it as a site to go find deals for restaurants and event tickets. I really had no idea that you can go shopping for home goods right on their site! There is a lot of stuff to wade through, but here are a few cute items I found:

And finally, my social media confession. I am more than a little embarrassed to admit this to you, but here it goes: I just started using Twitter this week. Oh, and Snapchat. For whatever reason, I have been very social media resistant in the past. I’ve always loved Facebook and Pinterest, but in the beginning Twitter seemed like a place where people shared what they were eating for dinner and it felt like a waste of time to me. So I gave up. For 10 years. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, I dragged my feet on Instagram too, but now it’s my favorite.
But as a blogger, it’s kind of important to me that people actually read what I’m taking the time to write, and social media is a huge part in how that happens. So I started investigating Twitter and this new fangled thing called Snapchat. Yes I know I just sounded like I am at least double my age. So far, I have watched a YouTube video on how to use Snapchat and endured my younger sisters laughing at me while showing me what to do, but I’m starting to get the hang of it. And it’s kind of fun. I’m actually enjoying Twitter now too. So please come follow me so that I will have friends to interact with on new-to-me social media! My username on every social media platform is happymeetshome, or you can click the social media buttons on the sidebar!
What is your favorite social media platform? Any tips for me on Snapchat? Come say hi!
