Happy Monday! Are you settling into a routine yet? I think summer is pretty much over everywhere now (as far as school starting!), and I’m struggling to get into the routine of fall. Fall is my favorite season though, and I’m looking forward to all the season has to offer! Hands down, my favorite thing about fall is the clothes. Layering makes an outfit so much more interesting, and the crisp fall air is the perfect time to do it.
Are you up on the latest style trends for fall? I love clothing and shopping, but I am not the first person to jump on clothing trends. (I feel like that’s a good thing most of the time!) I may not look like I belong in an issue of Vogue, but I do still want to look current and like I know what is going on in style. If you read my last post about home decor, then you know what’s coming…
Every year Pantone picks a color (or colors) of the year and it heavily influences the design world. Paying attention to these colors can really help you to stay current in your home and in your wardrobe. Pantone also picks some coordinating colors for the seasons. Of the 10 colors for fall this year, here are my favorites: Dusty Cedar, Riverside, Sharkskin, Spicy Mustard, and Rose Quartz.
You can use these colors (or any of the other 5 Pantone colors!) to help guide your color choices as you’re shopping for new pieces for your wardrobe. Maybe you’re not ready to wear sock boots, but you wouldn’t mind a new cardigan/sweater/blazer/pant in Dusty Cedar. Trust me, you can find them all in Pantone colors!
Below are my top picks for how to stay on trend with color in fashion this season.
I am really loving blush pink for fall, it feels a little unexpected but really sophisticated. I could see layering this cardigan over a casual dress in winter too!
Accessories are a really easy way to incorporate the colors of the season, and this bucket bag is a perfect example. It’s not quite Dusty Cedar, but maroon is also really big for fall this year!
This blazer combines two trends, Spicy Mustard and velvet. I think this blazer is beautiful, but not everyone can or should wear this color. But if you love it like I do, consider my next pick.
Shoes are a really great way to wear a fun color that you wouldn’t usually wear. They can also make just a t shirt and jeans more fun. Add a sweater blazer and you look really put together. I love the shape and color of these Spicy Mustard flats!
You can do double duty on trends with these lace up flats in blush.
This sweater is called a “poncho”, but I love that it has real sleeves, great drape, and doesn’t look like a poncho… It’s also similar in color to Sharkskin.
I love this cowl neck sweater in Dusty Cedar. Bonus: It also comes in a shade similar to Riverside!
Love this “Riverside” blue thermal. It would be great with jeans, leggings, and more layers in winter!
Have you gotten your fall wardrobe ready yet? Which trends are you going to try this season? I’d love to hear about them in the comments! If you don’t have your closet ready, I wrote a guest post with some tips for you over at Pretty Simple Ideas.
