It’s Friday everyone! I love the the weekend, as I’m sure all of you do as well. But I’ve learned as a stay at home mom of two that a plan of action is as important on the weekend as it is during the week. Without intentionally planning activities, we quickly spiral into fighting, boredom, and wasted days. We only have one life to live, who wants to waste it that way? That doesn’t mean that we have amazing plans for this weekend, but you never know when an ordinary activity can be memorable.
We finally made it out to pick strawberries yesterday, and my girls LOVED it. The older daughter took the task very seriously and didn’t taste test a single berry. My younger daughter put a berry in her basket and then pulled it right back out to pop into her mouth. I was not surprised by either of daughter, as it is a good representation of their personalities! Our berry picking reminded me of a post that another local Kansas City blogger did of strawberry recipes. While I don’t think we picked enough to actually make any of them, the strawberry pie looks tempting enough for me to go buy more!
Speaking of desserts, I do plan on making some fresh mint ice cream on Saturday. I purchased this ice cream maker last summer and it got a ton of use. I have a lot of mint growing in my back yard (it spreads like crazy!), so I’ll be bring my machine out of hibernation for this fresh mint ice cream recipe.

Also on Saturday, I plan on attending the grand opening of Nickel and Suede‘s brick and mortar store! If you have read any of my 10 Item Wardrobe posts, you have seen me wearing their life changing leather earrings. The brick and mortar store is supposed to have some earrings that are only available in-store (sorry if you’re not local) and I’m excited to see what’s new and possibly meet One Little Momma! Kilee has amazing style and she is so personable on her blog, you should check it out if you don’t follow her already!
After church last weekend we spent a few hours at the pool. My 3 1/2 year old has developed an affinity for the big pool after we got her a puddle jumper (she was terrified before) and my youngest also loves to swim with Daddy wearing her own. They are so stinking cute in them and it makes pool time with little kids a little more relaxing and a whole lot more fun! Who knows, maybe I’ll even get some by-the-pool reading done? I just picked up these books from the library and I’m itching to read them.
After the pool I will probably have a lot of cleaning to do, but Mrs. Meyers Peony and Lilac scents make it so much more fun. I just couldn’t resist…
I’ll also be working on finishing up a post to share the updates I made to my patio for summer. It is a small space and a small budget, but I’m really happy with the results! I’m just loving all the summer home tours going on right now, you can see a round up of them here.
Those are my weekend plans, what will you be doing?
