The year is half over my friend! I cannot believe it is July 1st already. Before any more time goes by, I have to share with you some of my favorite finds from the month of June. Actually, some of them are from the month of May because somehow it got away from me and I didn’t end up writing that post… So here is a round up of my favorite finds from the months of May and June.
Magic Eraser– My kids are just being super messy lately or something, I have never used this thing as much as I have in the last two months! It really is amazing and every bit at “magical” as the name suggests. I use it primarily on my walls, where stray crayon marks and sticky fingers mark up my walls on the regular. Now, I have to say that depending on your paint finish, you may not have a completely mark free wall after you use it. I have an eggshell finish in most rooms (hallways, living room, family room), and when I use the Magic Eraser to clean the wall you can kind of tell where I wiped the wall. This is the unfortunate side effect of an eggshell finish. I love it because it’s not shiny, therefore hiding imperfections in the wall itself (nail holes that have been patched for example). But unless you have a semi-gloss finish, or maybe a satin finish, you will see where you wiped the wall. In my opinion, some wiping marks are better than red crayon any day.

Skillshare.com – A friend of mine introduced me to this website, and I could spend HOURS watching videos if time allowed. If you are interested in any kind of creative skill, I can almost promise you that you can find a tutorial on how to do it on Skillshare.com. So far I’ve watched videos about hand lettering, watercolor painting, and printing your own design onto wallpaper or fabric. There are also videos about photography, fashion design, pottery, web coding, writing, blogging, and even some business for creatives, just to name a few. Some of the videos are free to watch, but there is a premium version that gives you access to all the videos. I can’t really say how many free videos there are because I tried the premium version right away. You can try the premium version for 3 months for only 99 cents by clicking on this link. I’m in the middle of my 3 month trial right now, and I think that once it expires there is a monthly fee of $8-9, or you can get a great deal on a yearly membership. If you are someone who likes to learn new skills but needs a flexible option that you can push pause on, this website has been a really fun option for me personally.
Everlane Dresses – I have already talked about these dresses in my 10 Item Summer Wardrobe post, but I just can’t get over how much I love this striped dress and this racerback dress. It was my first time to shop in Evereve, but I will definitely go back! Both of these dresses are so comfortable, so flattering (even after having 2 babies), so easy to just throw on and look put together. I’ve worn each of them at least 5 times since purchasing, but never in exactly the same way. Change the shoes and the accessories and I have a new outfit. Love, love, love these dresses!
Powdered Green Tea – My husband is actually the one that found this item, and I’m so glad that he did! He’s really been into drinking tea lately, and green tea is probably his favorite. They say there are a lot of health benefits to drinking green tea (although I couldn’t tell you what they are…), so it’s been a good alternative on occasion for both of us from our morning cup of coffee. Of course, leave it to me to make a health food unhealthy. When he brought home Matcha Green Tea powder, I immediately thought of the drinks that Starbucks makes and set out to make my own version. More specifically, an iced green tea latte. This is so simple and takes about 30 seconds to put together. You need:
- a shaker cup
- ice
- milk (I use almond milk)
- honey (or a sweetener of your choice)
- Matcha Green Tea powder
All measurements I’m going to give you are approximate (because I had a “little of this, little of that” attitude towards this recipe). Fill shaker cup half full with ice. Put in about 8oz of milk, a teaspoon of honey, and 1/2 teaspoon of matcha green tea powder. Shake. Drink. And that’s it. And I promise you that it has less sugar in it than the Starbucks version. I really want to try this powder in some other recipes too, like ice cream!! (Which will have lots of sugar…)
