My Most Loved in March
Some of the items that made the My Most Loved in March list surprised me. I am not a very techie person, so when my husband wanted to get an Echo, I kind of rolled my eyes and said sure. But Alexa definitely makes my life a little easier, and here are my favorite ways to enlist her help:
- we got smart light bulbs for most of the lights in our house, and I can ask Alexa to dim the lights and even change the temperature for different times of day. GAME CHANGER for setting a mood. It’s been so great on all the really cloudy days we’ve had to bring some energy into the house with a temperature that mimics sunlight. Also, we now just tell Alexa goodnight while we’re laying in bed and she shuts all the lights off for us.
- Frequently I remember something I need to add to my shopping list while I’m washing the dishes. Not a very convenient time to find my phone and write it down. Now I just tell Alexa to add it to my shopping list and I’m feeling much more on top of buying household items.
- I never listened to music in our house before Alexa. Sometimes I’d think about turning something on, but the hassle of going up or down a flight or two of stairs (thanks split level) to turn on the stereo always kept me from actually doing it. Now I just ask Alexa to play something on Spotify, and even though it’s usually the Trolls or Moana soundtrack for my girls, it’s brought a lot of fun to the house.
These are just a few of the ways that Alexa can help out around the house, but the ones that we use the most.
Drugstore Gem
I love makeup, and I really really love high end makeup. Take me to Sephora over CVS any day. My favorite mascara for quite a while was Better Than Sex by Too Faced. It gives me great length and fullness, but it does flake off during the day, leaving me feeling a bit raccoon-ish by the end of the day. I found a drugstore dupe that gives me almost the exact length and fullness without any of the fallout. Best part, it’s a complete STEAL on Amazon.
Simplify the Table
White tablecloths. Does that sound like a boring thing to love? I don’t know about you, but I crave simplicity after the Christmas season, and really like to purge and simplify my home. The patterned tablecloth I had was literally driving me to distraction, so I switched it out for a simple white one and it feels so much better. Not to mention, it goes with everything. Patterned dishes and napkins really pop, and my everyday white dishes look clean and fresh with some natural chargers. Even with messy kids (and husband), it’s easy to clean and I probably stay on top of washing it more because I see when it gets dirty. These are a great every day option, and these and these are great for entertaining.
