Our Current Favorites – Spring 2021
We’ve been busy here at Collected Living trying new products ever since our trip to Dallas for market! Not only have we found home accessories we love, but new design books that are inspiring us in our life as well. We want to start sharing some of our current favorites that are bringing a little happiness to our lives!
Candles
As we enter spring, there is less of a desire for warm and cozy candles. That doesn’t mean we are going stop burning wonderful scents in our home. We’ve just switched over to lighter and fresher fragrances!
Right now, Abby has a Garden Mint scented candle by Tatine in her kitchen. It has quickly become a favorite. Held in a moody jar, this candle smells like a fresh mint plant is sitting on her counter.
A citrus scent for summer may sound cliché, but our Sea Salt Grapefruit candles by Apotheke are far from mainstream. We love the smell of fresh cut fruit, and the pairing of sea salt mixed with fresh tones of grapefruit creates a lovely soft and refreshing combination. This soy blend is Shandy’s current favorite and a great scent to transition from winter to spring. They are now available in our online store!
Throws
We recently found beautiful light weight throws, they are soft and perfect for spring and summer when you just need a light layer. Some of them we have even been eyeing for our own homes… don’t be surprised if you see one in one our next photoshoots!
The light and airy texture and color of this striped throw quickly caught our eye. We love the soft neutral colors and the mix of stripes, it can be layered on a sofa, chair, or bed without it being too overpowering.
Another Collected Living throw favorite is this waffle textured moss green throw. We love the subtle pattern it brings to a room. We think this blanket can work in anyone’s home no matter their style!
Books
Our coffee table usually consists of a few design books that keep our imagination flowing and give us inspiration for upcoming projects for clients and even our own personal projects. Just looking at the pictures gets us excited for the possibilities that can be created. Right now, Shandy’s current favorite is Beautiful: All-American Decorating and Timeless Style by Mark B. Sikes.
Abby has enjoyed Lauren Leiss’s book Habitat. She has been inspired by how the designer uniquely brings the outdoor elements into the home and how she incorporates her family in her designs. The textures and surfaces all work together in an interesting way, making you want to read further into the book to see more.
Sneakers
When prepping for market, one of the first items added to our packing list was a pair of comfortable shoes. We know we will be walking miles a day and want to prevent major aches and blisters if possible. However, it’s also important to us that we keep a sense of style on our trip as well! So lately, we’ve been online searching and trying on a variety of sneakers!
We are shopping mostly for white or neutral colors to compliment the majority of our closet. Our main goal was to find something that would function well through long days of walking, but it’s still got to look good. Our closet consists of everything from blazers, joggers, button downs and graphic tees, so we kept our eye out for something that could go with an assortment of outfits on a day to day basis.
Some we found were sportier looking than others, but we ended up going with a selection that would create a more professional street style look. Our top brands we seemed to gravitate to were Vejas, Cole Haan, and Addidas. A majority of the styles we were drawn to had white and creams, while others just had pops of black here and there. The pairs we chose were just what we were looking for our trip to market!
From home decor, personal care items, or fashion accessories, we are looking forward to sharing our current favorites each season!
