It’s the time of year that we are all spending a lot more time outside, and looking for outdoor patio ideas to make it more enjoyable. We like to make outdoor spaces feel like an extension of the indoors. Intentionally bringing homey accents and personal touches will take your outdoor experience to the next level.
Kansas City Outdoor Furniture
Plopping a set of matching outdoor furniture on your patio or deck will be functional, but just like a room inside your house, a little more thought and layering will go a long way towards making the space feel really comfortable, usable and a relaxing place to be.
Keep It Clean
We know, there’s dirt outside! We get it! But a dirty space is not a fun space to be in. If you have an enclosed patio or covered space, most likely a good vacuum or broom will be all you need to prep the space.
If your outdoor space is fully exposed to the elements all the time, you might need a good power washer to get the winter grime off.
Lighting
Lighting sets the mood indoors AND outdoors. If your patio is covered or enclosed, consider bringing out lamps for evening and after dark. String lights are also great for setting just the right mood.
If your space is not covered, think about ways you can protect yourself from the sun and enjoy being outside more of the day. Pergolas with vines or curtains across the top and sides will provide a break from the sun when you need it.
Furniture
We don’t like to use matching living room or bedroom sets indoors, and we follow the same philosophy outside. Mixing in a variety of pieces makes a space feel more collected and like a reflection of you. Below you will see some of our favorites from our outdoor collection, but first let’s talk about the really fun part.
Accessories and Plants
We love to bring art, mirrors, rugs, and textiles outdoors! If you have a covered patio that can keep art and mirrors safe from the elements, bring some outside!
You can select a piece that speaks to you and your personality, or that reminds you of another favorite destination.
Rugs are very important to give your outdoor space a cozy feeling. Indoor/outdoor rugs can be hosed off if needed, some are even able to go in the washing machine.
The flowers and plants you choose for your space help create a mood too. If you want a beachy backyard feel, go for palms and hibiscus. If the desert is more your jam, some cactus and succulents help set the tone.
We put together 3 mood boards highlighting some of our favorite pieces from our outdoor collection, demonstrating how we like to approach outdoor patio ideas. You can see more of the collection on our shop page.
