You guys, it’s One Room Challenge Week Seven!!! We can’t believe that it’s here already, and we have got a really fun post for you today. Design is all about the details, and today we are going to break down the different finishes that were planned for this kitchen renovation.
One Room Challenge Week Seven
We hope that you have also been following along with the other participants in the challenge. You can easily find all 7 weeks of posts on the One Room Challenge blog.
Let’s take a look back at the original mood board for the kitchen.
A design has to have a starting point, and inspiration or idea that all the other elements work around because it’s that thing that just must be in the room.
Abby knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she wanted mushroom colored cabinets and white walls. She started building the rest of the design from there.
Abby also knew exactly which paint colors she wanted, because she has been drawn to them over and over over the last couple of years. She used Benjamin Moore Hazy Skies for the cabinets and Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee for the walls.
Abby also knew she loved marble, and that would be her ideal stone for the countertops. She found this stunning slab, and that really helped set the tone for the rest of the space. Every kitchen needs a statement piece, and it doesn’t have to be the countertop, but in this case it definitely is.
We put together a post about what maintaining marble in the kitchen really looks like, so check that post out if you are considering marble in your home.
The Finishes
All the rest of the details help tell the story of Abby’s style. She’s classic, with an edgy twist, so she mixed in bits of both. The range is so timeless and classic, as is the faucet for the coffee station, the sconces, and the corbels for the island that Billy made by hand.
Abby also brought in some pieces that are just so interesting and speak to the edgy side of her style. Some you will have to wait to see til the reveal, but a favorite are the cabinet hardware that Billy also made by hand.
The range hood is also a more modern take on a classic shape.
The smallest of details, down to the hand towels, effect the overall feel of a room. The reveal will be next week friends. We can. Not. Wait.
